Light and tough – Savage adds the Klym models to its 110 and Impulse rifle series

New features, technologies and materials for both the bolt-action 110 and straight-pull Impulse rifles: Savage introduces the new Klym series.

The classic 110 action plus new technologies and materials: Savage 110 Klym rifle. The carbon fiber stock include a one-button height-adjustable comb.

The 110 Klym and Impulse Klym are born from a partnership with Proof Research and Fine Ballistic Tools (FBT): their exclusive carbon fiber wrapped stainless steel barrel in fact comes from Proof Research, while the carbon fiber stock is from FTB. Their intended use? The “highest treks and most remote backcountry hunts”. According to Beth Shimanski, Director of Marketing at Savage, “The Klym line truly is revolutionary for big game hunting.” Shimanski also explains the the reasons of the partnership: “Proof and FBT helped take us to the next level. Hunters accustomed to long hunts and backcountry expeditions that span multiple days and numerous climbs will appreciate the lightweight platform that maintains the ultimate in accuracy and reliability. Everything about this rifle was made to perform as it stands up to the elements and puts the latest technologies in these comprehensive big game rifles.”

The Savage Impulse Klym is Savage's lightest straight-pull rifle. The threaded bolt handle is ambidextrous, removable and multi-positional.

Lighter weights for higher altitude hunts and longer treks for big game: thanks to the exclusive carbon fiber wrapped, steel cut and 5/8x24 threaded barrel from Proof research combined with the FBT custom carbon fiber stock, the new Savage 110 Klym weighs just around 2.7 kg, and is designed “to combat elevation and elements while maintaining the performance of a factory blueprinted Savage 110 action”. The stock also include a one-button height- adjustable comb, two sling studs and a Magnaswitch system installed.

All Savage Klym rifles come with a Omniport muzzle brake already installed.

In addition, the 110 Klym comes with user-adjustable 1.5-4 lb (680-1,814 g) AccuTrigger, 3-position tang safety, blueprinted action, drilled and tapped receiver (8-40) and a one-piece 20 MOA Picatinny scope rail. The lightweight stainless steel receiver and diamond fluted bolt have a Blackout Cerakote finish.

The bolt of the 110 Klym is diamond fluted and features a matte Blackout Cerakote finish.

The bolt handle is 5/16x24 threaded, completed by a carbon fiber bolt knob. The rifle comes factory with an Omniport muzzle brake already installed. Box magazine is detachable.

Barrel length depends on caliber, ranging from 22”/558 mm to 24”/609 mm. Available chamberings are 6.5 PRC, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm PRC, .308 Win., .300 WSM. .300 Win. Mag. MSRP in the U.S. is $2,699, irrespective of caliber.

Savage Impulse Klym

The straight-pull action of the Impulse Klym allows for very fast follow-up shots.

The straight-pull Impulse Klym shares the same main features of the 110 Klym, i.e. Proof Research carbon fiber wrapped barrel with Omniport muzzle brake, FBT carbon fiber stock with adjustable comb height, adjustable AccuTrigger, detachable box magazine, and integral one-piece 20 MOA rail.

Caliber options are the same as the 100 Klym, too. Differences on the other hand include the aluminum receiver, a 2-position tang safety and the ambidextrous, removable, multi-positional threaded bolt handle (5/16x24) with carbon fiber knob. At 3 kg, the Impulse Klym is a bit heavier than its bolt-action sibling, but it's still Savage's lightest straight-pull rifle. Price for the lightning-fast Savage Impulse Klym is $3,299.
