Ruger expands the American Rifle Generation II lineup with the Patrol Models

Even in these last weeks of 2025, Ruger keeps on cranking out new rifles and variants of its existing models: after the Mini-14 50th Anniversary, the American Rifle Generation II Prairie and reintroducing the Glenfield brand with the Model A rifle, now comes another expansion of the American Rifle Gen II lineup with the American Rifle Generation II Patrol Models – ”America’s most trusted hunting rifle platform”, as they describe it. The new American Rifle Gen II Patrol models are available in both intermediate and long-range calibers, including .308 Winchester, 5.56 NATO, 6mm ARC, and .338 ARC, with two further versions in .300 Winchester Magnum and 7mm PRC coming soon.

Ruger American Rifle Generation II Patrol Models are available in popular hunting calibers and with different capacity: in the image, the .308 version with 3-round magazine.

The new Patrol rifles feature a stainless steel locking bolt and more rigid, durable and attractive black stock textured with dark gray splatter for excellent grip without being abrasive. Stock LOP (length of pull) and comb height are adjustable and the patented Power Bedding, an integral block system that positively locates the receiver and free-floats the barrel, guarantees accuracy.

Ruger’s Marksman Adjustable Trigger, which offers a crisp release with a user-adjustable pull weight between 3 and 5 pounds (1,360-2,270 g), is also on board.

The 16.10”/409 mm-long cold hammer-forged barrel is a bull contour type to help mitigate recoil during extended range sessions. The muzzle is threaded for the mounting of suppressors or other accessories and comes with a color-matched thread protector. A professionally applied Graphite Black Cerakote coating protects barreled, thread protector, receiver and bolt handle. Depending on the caliber, capacity ranges from 3 to 10 rounds. The rifles come factory with no iron sights, but with an optic rail on top of the action.

The three-position tang safety locks the bolt, preventing inadvertent bolt opening while allowing the rifle to be loaded with the safety engaged.

Since the introduction of the original Gen I series back in 2012, and the launch of Gen II with improved ergonomics in late 2024, the American Rifle platform is still one of the strong pieces in Ruger's hunting rifle catalog – also thanks to the affordable price that, for the new Patrol models is $729, whatever the caliber.
