The new Mauser 25 straight-pull bolt-action rifle (you can read our article here) was recently presented, but the well-known Mauser brand has not forgotten its three other current bolt-action rifle series and has given them several extensions. We already introduced the Mauser 12 DWM; now we are talking about the classic Mauser 98 action, as well as the Mauser 18. Let's start with the Mauser 98.
"Safari classic refined to perfection": Mauser 98 Magnum Big Five

Mauser's Meisterwerkstatt (master workshop) has introduced the new Big Five variant based on the renowned Mauser 98 Magnum rifle, which is clearly aimed at big game and Africa hunters. The rifle is based on the well-known and proven Magnum 98 action chambered in .416 Rigby.
The gun is particularly eye-catching due to its elegant appearance: the engraved magazine floorplate, which depicts the so-called "Big Five" – elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard, rhinoceros and lion – is particularly noteworthy. This depiction was engraved using the bulino technique. The engraver Silke Ulrich has depicted these animals with great precision. The pistol grip cap also shows an image of the African continent, filled with a picture of the African savannah created from platinum and gold. English ornamentation frames the pistol grip cap and also characterises other details of the rifle, such as the bolt handle, the bolt shroud, the double square mount bases, the barrel base and the sight bases. The barrel of the rifle is 62 cm long and is blued and hand-polished, as are the sight bases. Additional gold inlays in the barrel base and gold-coloured "F" and "S" markings on the safety are intended to add accents. Components such as the safety catch, trigger, extractor and extractor ring as well as the bolt catch and firing pin are blued. The rifle also bears the lettering "THE BIG FIVE" on the firing pin nut, which is intended to give this component a special significance. The stock is made of grade 10 root wood and has a super finish.
Mauser 18 in Standard and Waldjagd variants now also available for left-handed shooters, as well as M18 Extreme and Fenris Silence
The Mauser 18 model range has also been expanded, with the Standard and Waldjagd models now also available for left-handed shooters. Mauser does not charge any extra for this.

This is joined by the new Extreme model variant for particularly tough conditions. The rifle with polymer stock comes in the 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5x55 SE, .308 Win., .30-06 Spring. and 8x57 IS with an overall length of 101 cm and a barrel length of 51 cm. It has an M15x1 muzzle thread and the RRP is 1,579 euros.

The Mauser 18 Fenris, which is now also available in the Silence version with integral silencer, rounds off the range . The bolt-action rifle thus combines a stock for maximum ergonomics and precision with the advantages of the integral silencer. The Mauser 18 Fenris is available with barrel lengths of 42 and 47 centimetres and in .223 Rem., 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Win. The price including integral silencer is €2,599.
