“For professional guides, backcountry outfitters, and adventurous hunters who push their expeditions deep into the world’s most remote locales”: this is what the business card of the new Henry SPD CRUSR Rifle says. The latest release from Henry’s Special Products Division (SPD), has been developed in collaboration with Field Ethos gear development team – the partnership is indicated by a ghosted “FE” logo beneath the ejection port. The rifle name, CRUSR, is made from the initial letters of the words Compact, Rugged, Ultralight, and Suppressor-Ready. Let’s look into it in detail.
Henry SPD CRUSR Rifle, compact and ultralight

“Every ounce, material, and finish was considered for real-world practicality,” they claim an Henry. Chambered in .45-70 Government with a 4+1 capacity, the Henry SPD CRUSR Rifle is an 895-mm long overall, weighing in at some 3,040 g. It features a 16.5"/419 mm match-grade 416R stainless steel barrel with a tension-wrapped carbon fiber sleeve for weight reduction, enhanced barrel cooling, and accuracy. The magazine tube below the barrel is devoid of the cartridge cutout found on other Henry rifles to keep out dirt and debris.

Speaking of ruggedness, this is a gun designed for use in harsh conditions and climates: all exterior moving parts - including the bolt body, trigger, hammer, and side loading gate – have a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating for superior wear and weather resistance.
In addition, Cerakote is applied to all other external surfaces: Midnight Bronze for the M-LOK aluminum handguard and synthetic buttstock, and Midnight Blue for all other external surfaces. The synthetic stock has a solid rubber recoil pad.
As the acronym says, the rifle is suppressor-ready thanks to the 5/8×24 threaded muzzle. The receiver-mounted Picatinny rail or the Weaver 63B hole spacing underneath it allow for the use of optics.
The Field Ethos team, however, also added iron sights for quick target acquisition, with a ghost ring rear sight and a brass bead front sight.
Built in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, inspected and certified by one of the SPD engineers, and backed by Henry’s Lifetime Warranty, the CRUSR Rifle is priced in the US at $2,499.
