At IWA 2017, Swarovski Optik, a company specializing in premium optics, caused a sensation when it presented the dS 5-25x52 P model, the first riflescope with an integrated laser rangefinder and ballistics calculator for aiming point correction in a housing that also looked like conventional riflescopes in terms of external design. At that time, however, the large main tube diameter of 40mm was still relatively unusual. Today, even purely optical riflescopes designed for use at long ranges are approaching this size, so that it is no longer so noticeable. In 2021, the manufacturer gave the optic an upgrade and launched the Swarovski dS 5-25x52 P Gen. II, to which we dedicated a detailed all4hunters.com test report at the time. Now the Swarovski dS 24-24x50 P is coming onto the market with a further revised optical system and additional digital features.
Highlights of the Swarovski dS 4-24x50 P: laser rangefinder and automatic ballistic calculation
At the heart of the new dS 4-24x50 P from Swarovski Optik is the integrated ballistic calculation. At the touch of a button, the riflescope measures the distance to the desired point of impact, determines the corrected aiming point and displays it directly in the field of view. In addition to the measured distance, the system also takes into account angle, environmental conditions and your personal ballistics, which can be entered via the Swarovski Optik Hunting App. This app offers even more useful functions, but more on that later.

The advantage of automatic aiming point correction for the hunter is obvious: the hunter can concentrate fully on the situation without having to make manual corrections. Especially in stressful and tense hunting situations, this can mean a decisive time and safety advantage.
In addition to its improved digital component, the new dS 4-24x50 P also features the proven optical quality upon which its manufacturer’s reputation is built. This quality is achieved through a new optical system featuring a 6x zoom factor and an expanded field of view and, according to Swarovski Optik, should deliver even better image quality. This is accompanied by a high level of detail recognition as well as a clear, true-to-colour image right to the edges, which should enable the hunter to respond reliably even in difficult lighting conditions. All in all, the riflescope covers a wide range of applications, from stalking to stand hunting at longer distances, and proves its worth not only in expansive terrain.
The Swarovski Optik Hunting App expands the hunting capabilities of the dS 4-24x50 P riflescope

If you view the new dS 4-24x50 P as a digital system, the integration of the Swarovski Optik Hunting App is a central element. The app can be used to create and manage personal ballistic profiles and transfer them directly to the riflescope. The app also offers additional functions such as a digital hunting journal for documenting shots and a tracking assistant. This helps to narrow down the area you aimed at for your last measurement/shot and supports navigation there using a map and compass function – provided the automatic correction has been used beforehand.

If required, the dS 4-24x50 P can also be used without the automatic aiming correction. For example, if it is not possible to use the laser rangefinder because a clip-on is fitted. In this case, the classic 4A-I reticle can be used in red dot illumination mode. In this case, all display functions are deactivated except for the illuminated central point at the intersection of the crosshairs. However, the SWAROLIGHT function is then automatically activated. This is an intelligent automatic turn-off/turn-on function that operates utilizing a tilt sensor, which helps to extend the life of the CR 123A battery used in this device.
Another aspect that speaks in favor of the new dS 4-24x50 P is its update capability: thanks to so-called "over-the-air" updates, the system can be supplied with new features or upgrades via the smartphone app, which should ensure the long-term usability of the riflescope.
The scope can also be combined with in-house thermal imaging clip-ons such as the TX Encounter or the tM 35+ using the tMA-50 dS adapter, which is expected to be available soon. In conjunction with the thermal imaging devices and components from Swarovski Optik, the manufacturer guarantees a consistent point of impact without the need for re-zeroing. The new Swarovski Optik dS 4-24x50 P is already available in stores in a version for ring mounting at a non-binding recommended retail price of 4,990 euros ($5,799 in the US) or as a version with SR rail mounting, which then costs 100 euros more. The dS 4-24x50 P (ring version) has a main tube diameter of 40mm and weighs 1,080 grams, while the SR version weighs 1,110 grams.
Optional RC remote control facilitates rangefinding with the Swarovski dS 4-24x50 P

The dS 4-24x50 P is designed as part of a modular system. An optional remote control is available, which can be attached to your wrist or the rifle stock with a watch strap so that distance measurement is possible without changing the aiming position. After the required pairing via Bluetooth, the RC remote control, priced at 180 euros (RRP), can be used to control both the measuring function and the display illumination. Incidentally, as long as the Bluetooth connection is active, an LED on the control unit of the riflescope lights up. If you own a TX Encounter thermal imaging device, you can also use the RC remote control for this, although you will need to pair it again when switching between devices.
