Beretta A400L, the evolution of the semi-automatic for clay target shooting

Beretta's iconic semi-automatic platform comes in a stunning clay target shooting edition, combining the performance and speed of the A400 with unmistakable design and typical Italian attention to detail. The A400L, an elegant version of the Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting, features exclusive and eye-catching engravings, combined with highly figured European walnut wood for the redesigned fore-end and stock. This is complemented by DLC-finished components to provide further friction reduction, increased durability and a contemporary touich.

The A400L incorporates the renowned ballistics of Beretta Steelium Plus barrels with progressive triple forcing cone (up to 320 mm) for optimum terminal energy, enhanced recoil mitigation and uniform, dense and more effective shot patterns with all types of ammunition.

The tried-and-tested B-Link gas operating system provides 36% faster follow-up shots and enhanced stability, comfort and control for faster target acquisition, while the aluminum trigger group delivers a lighter, crispier pull and shorter reset.

Its sleek lines, elaborate full receiver engraving, Steelium Plus barrel and superior ergonomics are designed with one goal in mind: naturally following your eye to the target, while competition eyes your shotgun.

The Beretta A400L in detail

The Beretta A400L semi-automatic shotgun is available in 12-gauge, with three barrel length options: 71, 76 and 81 cm. It comes with interchangeable OCHP chokes in M, IM and IC constrictions (3, 2, 4*), as featured in the latest Beretta A400 Xcel model.

The Beretta A400L features a 2.5+ grade walnut stock and fore-end with redesigned ergonomics, enhanced and enlarged checkering area and ambidextrous palm swell for superior grip and control in all shooting situations.

The Microcore recoil pad offers comfort, adaptability and outstanding recoil absorption. It features specially designed checkering for added stability and an open-cell polyurethane structure that expands after firing, increasing contact with the shoulder for secure and precise support.

Microcore recoil pads are available in different sizes to allow adjustment of length-of-pull in combination with Beretta spacers.

The A400 Xcel retains the sleek receiver lines, now enhanced with refined top and bottom profiling, along with the enlarged loading port, extended bolt handle and release, designed for fast and intuitive handling.

The A400L features a nickel-plated receiver adorned with elegant scroll and floral engravings set against a richly inked background, offering a touch of artistry to admire between shooting stations. The bolt-carrier group benefits from a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) finish that improves durability and minimises friction between components, while the acid green 'B-LINK' lettering detail on the bolt body lends the gun a contemporary edge. The magazine release and trigger are also DLC-coated to ensure a cohesive and robust finish.

The ultra-fast B-Link gas operating system, featuring a cross-tube gas piston, delivers a rcycling speed up to 36% faster than that of its competitors. The combination of this powerful gas system and the ultra-precise rotating bolt ensures fast, reliable and intelligent operation. Thanks to the re-engineered gas ports and the systematic reduction of mechanical friction thoughout, residue build-up is significantly reduced, greatly reducing maintenance requirements.

For the first time, the B-Balance magazine cap is featured on a Beretta shotgun: this component combines a modern design with an innovative anodised aluminum and steel construction, and offers a weight adjustment option of up to 55 grams, thanks to the included inserts (the cap weighs 85 grams on its own and 140 grams with all inserts installed).

The aluminum trigger group provides a lighter, crispier trigger pull and shorter reset, and includes a competition-grade pro-lifter for unprecedented speed and ease of loading. The lifter remains in the "raised" position when the bolt is closed, allowing new rounds to be inserted into the magazine much more quickly, either individually or in dual/quad mode, eliminating the risk of thumb biting.

The new Beretta A400L features cold-hammered forged Steelium Plus barrels with 10x8 mm ventilated top rib, including a triple forcing cone that extends up to 320 mm (in a 76-cm barrel) for increased terminal energy, reduced recoil and muzzle rise, and dense and uniform shot patterns with any type of ammunition: lead, steel and HP steel. Patterns remain uniform and highly effective regardless of the cartridge type thanks to the use of Optimachoke HP chokes, made of high-strength steel to offer exceptional corrosion resistance against the power of steel shot. The Beretta A400L is available in 12 gauge, with three barrel length options: 71, 76 and 81 cm. The case has been redesigned for the A400L with injection-moulded polymer: this new production method improves transport conditions and is a valuable and elegant addition to the gun.
