Premiere: Walther LG500 itec Anatomic – The top air rifle model now also with laminated wood stock

There is never a German Championship (Deutsche Meisterschaften, or DM for short) of the German Shooting Association in Munich at which Carl Walther does not also present a new gun model. At no other event does the Ulm-based company reach its expert clientele more directly than at the DM, which attracts a good 10,000 visitors every year and, of course, Germany's best air rifle shooters also determine their champions on the shooting range. This time, at the end of August 2025, the Walther LG500 itec air rifle was presented with the newly designed "Anatomic" laminated wood stock, which is now offered as an alternative to the high-tech aluminum stock. Many top shooters, who particularly appreciate the special shooting characteristics of the wood material, have been waiting a long time for this. This is why many DM visitors took the opportunity to test fire the new LG500 Anatomic directly on site.

Presented at the end of August 2025: Walther LG500 itec Anatomic.

A brief journey into the past: the introduction of the first Anatomic laminated wood stock for the predecessor Walther LG300 XT model in 2007, which was developed by Walther in collaboration with the successful rifle trainer Heinz Reinkemeier, marked the beginning of a new era in shooting technology. This one-piece laminated wood stock could be individually adjusted to the respective user in all important details such as cheek piece and stock length, forend height and grip. The laminated wood allows thinner areas around the compressed air system and barrel than with a solid wood stock. You can almost achieve the thin wall thicknesses of aluminum, but can benefit from the comparatively soft advantages of the Anatomic stock made of thin layers of glued wood. There was no changing of the guard, but there were two "fan groups" who opted for either an aluminum stock or the blue-coloured Anatomic version. The models with an anatomic stock also form a considerable segment of Walther's rimfire rifles in terms of sales figures, and it was only a matter of time before the flagship of the Walther air rifle range, the LG500 itec, also received an Anatomic stock.

The buttplate of the Walther LG500 itec Anatomic can be adjusted in any extreme position permitted by the ISSF and DSB regulations.
Walther LG500 itec Anatomic: Thanks to the thin laminated wood walls, the cheek piece has enough space inside to accommodate the mechanism with its many adjustment options.

The LG500 itec, whose technical innovations all4shooters.com already presented here, has a unique, vibration- and tension-free connection between the stock and compressed air action, including the barrel, with the so-called itec receiver interface. This is made possible, among other things, by increased bedding surfaces and the ability to have precise elevation and lateral adjustments. This interface now also had to be developed as a laminated wood solution for the LG500. Firstly, last year the world association ISSF adapted its rules for the air rifle discipline with regard to (among other things) the stock design.

With the electronic BTe trigger of the Walther LG500 itec Anatomic, the grip position and the position of the trigger module are adjustable.

The lower edge of the Anatomic buttstock has therefore been raised by two centimetres to create more space between the stock and the shooter's chest (the buttstock must not rest against the chest). The tried and tested options for connecting the buttplate, which is already largely customisable, to the wood of the buttstock allow it to be adapted to as many large and small shooters as possible. The cheek piece can also be adjusted in terms of tilt, height and position on the back of the stock.

Finally, the modified buttstock geometry now also results in a more comfortable position of the trigger hand on the pistol grip, which prevents any unwanted transmission of the pulse of the heart to the gun (on the LG500 itec with electronic BTe trigger, the position of the pistol grip to the trigger can be individually adjusted, as the trigger module is separate and can only be connected by cable).

As the top model in Carl Walther's not exactly small product range, the LG500 itec Anatomic is of course equipped with the same technology as its aluminum sibling version. For example, the electronic BTe trigger (Biometric Trigger), although a version with a mechanical trigger is also available, which is 1,000 euros cheaper (4,999 euros). The various interacting damping systems, which regulate the minimum recoil caused by the accelerating pellet during the shot, are also on board. Every shooter can adjust their preferred firing "feedback".
