Shooting at long distances is only possible to a limited extent in Europe, as suitable facilities are rarely open to the public or are subject to strict regulations. The Wiechlice Airbase Shooting Range in Poland offers an alternative here. With firing lines up to 1,240 meters, various booths and extensive terrain, shooters are also increasingly taking advantage of these opportunities.
As part of the Willenbach hunting estate's long-range seminar, we were able to test a long-range setup consisting of a Rössler Titan 6 TAC, Kahles K540i and RWS Target Elite Plus 6.5 Creedmoor at 1,240 meters.
The Rössler Titan 6 TAC: precisely constructed, modular design
The Rössler Titan 6 TAC is based on the proven Titan 6 platform and is aimed at users who value repeatable precision and a customisable chassis. One technical feature that is particularly important in the long-range sector is the short lock time of around 1.6 to 1.7 milliseconds. This reduces the time between pulling the trigger and the actual shot release – a detail that has an influence on the stability of the action at long ranges.

Technical features & equipment of the Rössler Titan 6 Tac
- 6 locking lugs directly locking into the barrel
- Short lock time
- Aluminum chassis with adjustable stock elements
- Match barrel (e.g. 610 mm) with M14×1 thread
- 20 MOA angled Picatinny rail
- Fine trigger with a defined wall
- Interchangeable barrel system for different calibers
The design allows flexible adaptation to different shooters and disciplines. The airbase range showed that the action remains easy to control even at increasing shooting distances. However, in order for the rifle to fully exploit its precision at the long distances possible in Wiechlice, for example, and for this precision to actually hit the target, it needs optics that can accurately reproduce the gun's potential.

Kahles K540i: a scope for long ranges
In addition to the rifle, the optic is also of decisive importance for shooting at long range. We chose the K540i from Kahles as a partner for the Titan 6 TAC. A top-class optic that offers enough magnification reserves and image quality.
With a magnification range of 5x to 40x and a 56-mm objective lens, the K540i is suitable for applications where targets need to be addressed at medium and long distances.
Features of the K540i
- Magnification range: 5-40×
- Fine, repeatable click adjustment
- High image quality
- Sensibly placed controls and turrets
In an all4shooters.com article on the market launch of this riflescope, we described further details of the Kahles 540i. In conjunction with the Titan 6 TAC, the target could be clearly identified even at over 1,200 meters, and the scope offered sufficient reserves for corrections and for observing the effect of the shot. Once the target image and point of aim have been clearly defined, the next step is to decide whether the selected ammunition can be converted into repeatable hits.
RWS Target Elite Plus in 6.5 Creedmoor – High-precision loads for sport purposes
As soon as the precision of the rifle and optic are in place, the ballistics of the ammunition play the central role. Consistent muzzle velocities and a stable trajectory are crucial for achieving repeatable results, especially at long shooting distances. This is why the RWS Target Elite Plus in 6.5 Creedmoor was used. The factory ammunition is designed for low tolerances and offers a ballistic basis that is suitable for shooters who demand maximum precision from their cartridges without having to hand-reload them in order to achieve consistent results.
In 6.5 Creedmoor, the Target Elite Plus combines a flat trajectory with easily controllable recoil. The manufacturing quality is geared towards consistent velocities and tight groups – aspects that are particularly relevant at distances over 1,000 meters.
Properties of the loading
- Tight manufacturing tolerances
- Consistent muzzle velocities
- Suitable for distances from 100 to over 1,000 meters
In practice, the Target Elite Plus proved to be a reliable addition to our combo for the distances to be covered at this long range seminar.

Rössler Titan 6 TAC, Kahles K540i and RWS Target Elite Plus combo in practice when shooting at up to 1,240 meters
The Wiechlice Airbase Shooting Range offers realistic conditions for long-range shooters. The different wind zones, the open terrain structures and the long range require a coordinated interplay of firearm, optic and ammunition.
During the seminar, it was possible to achieve repeatable hits at 1,240 meters. As planned, the short lock time of the Titan 6 TAC reduced the effects of possible shooter movements at the moment of firing, the K540i allowed clear target acquisition and the Target Elite Plus contributed a high degree of inherent accuracy.
The interaction of all components proved to be consistent – an important factor over long distances.
Conclusion: a balanced long-range setup
The combination of Rössler Titan 6 TAC, Kahles K540i and RWS Target Elite Plus showed harmonious interaction in practical use. The Wiechlice Airbase Shooting Range provided an environment that enables shooting at distances that are rarely available in Europe.
The combo described in this article is an ideal basis for shooters who need a customized, modular and precise rifle setup and want to train for real long-range distances at the same time. If you would like to find out more, you should definitely watch the video in this article.
