For 2026, Smith & Wesson's Spec Series annual limited-edition includes a new 9mm compact pistol and a new .357 revolver: the Spec Series VI M&P M2.0 Metal Compact and the Spec Series R Model 686 Plus. Spec Series guns are known for their performance-enhancing features, and the new additions make no exception: both platforms are optic-ready and are designed to help proficiency out-of-the-box. Spec Series VI M&P 9 M2.0 Metal Compact
The highlights of the 9mm Spec Series VI M&P 9 M2.0 Metal Compact pistol include an in-line ported barrel with slide cut, a mount slide with Aimpoint ACRO P-2 sight and a Floyds Custom Shop EDC magwell. The quad in-line porting is designed to divert gas upward, reducing felt recoil without adding overall length to the barrel, while the Aimpoint ACRO P-2 direct mount slide allows for a lower optic height and a plate-free connection. Finally, the Floyds Custom Shop EDC magwell makes quick magazine changes easier and provides a grip ledge for enhanced control. The flat-face trigger, 18-degree grip angle, four interchangeable palmswell grip inserts, rear sight with two white dot and white dot front sight complete the package.
With a 4” barrel, Spec Series VI M&P 9 M2.0 Metal Compact uses an aluminum frame with champagne-color Cerakote finish. As usual for Spec Series guns, it comes with a Savior Equipment pistol bag, Hunter Constantine carry belt and S&W Spec Series VI knife, coin and patch. The S&W Spec Series VI M&P 9 M2.0 Metal Compact ships with three 15-round magazines and carries an MSRP of $1899 in the US.
Spec Series R Model 686 Plus No Lock
The Model 686 Plus Spec Series R is the first revolver in the Spec Series family. Together with its 7-round cylinder capacity cut for moon clips, the .357 Magnum Spec Series R Model 686 Plus No Lock also comes with Aimpoint ACRO P-2 Mount and Optic. The PowerPort-vented 4.13” barrel and frame are stainless steel with Titanium color Cerakote finish. The stainless steel cylinder has a black PVD finish. Cylinder release is extended.
A fully adjustable rear sight is included in the box and coupled with a ramp front sight with red insert. Priced at $1999, the Model 686 Plus Spec Series R comes with Savior Equipment pistol bag, 10 moon clips and S&W Spec Series R knife, coin and patch.
