Smith & Wesson's Carry Comp family welcomes some more new models in the form of the 9mm Performance Center M&P Shield X Carry Comp. Three options are available – with thumb safety, without thumb safety, and a 10-round compliant model for those US states that don't allow “hi-capacity” magazines. The patented Carry Comp technology with PowerPort vented barrel helps reduce felt recoil and allows for faster follow-up shots without losing your target. The concept is to leverage high-pressure gasses and drive down the muzzle during firing. Other Perfomance Center Carry Comp models include the .380 Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp and M&P9 M2.0 Metal Carry Comp, M&P9 M2.0 Compact Carry Comp and M&P9 Shield Plus Carry Comp pistols.
Smith & Wesson: Performance Center M&P Shield X Carry Comp, with or without thumb safety

The M&P Shield X, the “next evolution in the Shield series”, is a striker-fired polymer-framed micro compact pistol with a maximum capacity of 15+1 rounds in 9mm. We already introduced the standard M&P Shield X here. It is optic-ready, and thanks to its ClearSight Cut design, gasses are diverted away from your optic letting you maintain an unobstructed view when firing.

Like the standard model, the Performance Center M&P Shield X Carry Comp also features aggressive front and rear serrations for racking, a reversible magazine catch, and a longer, more ergonomic grip that maximizes capacity and enhanced control.
Besides the flat-plane RMSc/K optic cut, the front rail allow you to customize the gun to your needs for an enhanced shooting experience.
The 3.6”-long (91 mm), 1:10” twist stainless steel fluted and ported barrel has the usual S&W Armornite finish. The rear notch is blacked-out and serrated-notch, and paired to an Ameriglo Trooper LumiGreen front night sight.

The slim grip has front and rear texture, and trigger is flat-faced according to the most modern trends in EDC pistols.
Magazine capacity with flush magazine is 13 rounds, and up to 15 rounds with the extended magazine. A 10-round “compliant” version is also available.
As mentioned above, the new Performance Center M&P Shield X Carry Comp is offered with or without thumb safety.
The Carry Comp treatment adds 100 bucks to the price tag: whereas the standard model is priced at 599, the Performance Center M&P Shield X Carry Comp costs $699 in the US – this includes one 13-round and one 15-round magazine.
