From SIG Sauer, new variants and upgrade kits for US Army M17 and M18 pistols

The recent US Army approval and authorization of new parts and accessories for the M17 and M18 pistols simplifies procurement, enabling soldiers to order items directly through established military supply channels. Through collaboration with the US Army and feedback from the field, SIG Sauer is therefore introducing several new MHS variants providing soldiers with the ability to upgrade currently fielded M17 and M18s. The variants include the M17 and M18 MHS-GFC (General Forces Configuration), the MHS-CC Kit and the MHS-SOF.

New M17 and M18 variants and kits to enhance soldier effectiveness

The M17 and M18 MHS-GFC
The M17 and M18 MHS-GFC (General Forces Configuration) variants feature an improved grip module, gaspedal takedown lever, flared magwell and adjustable sights.

The full-size M17 and compact M18 pistols, adopted by the US armed forces in 2017,  were developed by SIG Sauer as part of the US Army’s Modular Handgun System (MHS), which focus on modularity to enhance soldier effectiveness. Thanks to SIG Sauer MHS pistol’s Fire Control Unit (FCU), the M17 and M18 pistols can be modified to meet operational needs and soldier preferences, since everything wrapped around the FCU is an adaptable accessory.

The M18-CC
The M18-CC (Concealed Carry) Kit has been developed for missions that require either a low-vis solution or a pistol that must blend in with local military and law enforcement equipment.

The MHS General Forces Configuration (MHS-GFC) variant enables soldiers to convert existing M17 and M18 pistols for increased accuracy and hit probability, reduced training time, faster manipulation, and improved system control. Enhancements include an improved grip module, gaspedal takedown lever, flared magwell and – most notably – adjustable sights.

M18 MHS-SOF
For units that desire a more featured weapon system, the M18 MHS-SOF features an aftermarket Brouwer Solutions M1811 Grip Module, threaded barrel and adjustable suppressor height sights.

The MHS-CC Kit, on the other hand, has been developed for missions that require either a low-vis solution or a pistol that must blend in with local military and law enforcement equipment. This kit converts the M18 MHS to a concealed carry pistol in an all-black configuration. It includes the Concealed Carry grip module in multiple size options, 3.9” slide and barrel assembly,15-round magazines with flush fit aluminum magazine bases, flat blade trigger, and a compact PRDS option.

The MHS-SOF, is designed for units that desire a more featured weapon system instead. The M18 MHS-SOF features the aftermarket Brouwer Solutions M1811 Grip Module with flared magwell, threaded barrel, flat trigger, safety delete pin to remove the manual safety, gas pedal takedown lever, and adjustable suppressor height sights. A flat blade trigger is also part of this package.
