The SHOT Show in Las Vegas covers over 77,000 square meters of exhibition space, spread between the Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum, with over 21 kilometers of aisles to run (the equivalent of a half marathon) and showcases more than 2,700 exhibitors. It is the largest gun and outdoor industry event in the world. The forty-eighth edition opened its doors at a time of heightened diplomatic tensions between the Old and New Continents, but this did not stop the influx of companies and industry players that also made this SHOT Show a memorable event, organised with great expertise by the NSSF, the US firearm industry trade association that promotes hunting and shooting sports. As we do every year, we sent our correspondents on site to tell you about the most interesting new developments in the field of sport and defense guns, and accessories. We invite you to follow us, reminding you that on our Facebook and Instagram social channels you can find more new content.
Beretta B22 Jaguar .22 Long Rifle, the new Beretta's plinker

Like a bolt from the blue, here comes the Beretta B22 Jaguar in .22 Long Rifle, a semi-automatic pistol manufactured in the USA and designed to fill a gap in the Italian manufacturers's catalog. The new blowback semi-automatic handgun, which shares its name with a famous model from the 70 series, is completely different in terms of design and intended use, presenting itself as a chassis gun for informal shooting and therefore easily adaptable to the user's needs, with the possibility of easily attaching optics, choosing whether to eject cases to the right or left of the receiver and – where permitted – to mount a silencer thanks to the threaded muzzle. Among the most notable features of the Beretta Jaguar are the fully ambidextrous controls and flat-faced trigger. The mechanical system is Ruger-type, with a bolt that is cocked by operating the two rear serrated ears. The double-stack magazine has a capacity of 15 rounds. The metal sights are compatible with those for Ruger pistols already on the market. The pistol is available in two models: Standard, priced at $699, and Competition, with a match barrel, compensator and thumb rest, at $999.

KelTec PR-3AT, the stripper clip-fed, rotary barrel .380 ACP pistol

This year KelTec celebrates its 35th anniversary, and at the SHOT Show the US manufacturer is introducing the all new PR-3AT, a compact concealed carry pistol in .380 ACP. The evolution of the ultra-compact original P-3AT model, from a mechanical and functional standpoint the PR-3AT is a pretty unusual firearm, being a stripper clip-fed and rotating-barrel design. Thanks to a camming system, when the slide moves backward the barrel rotates 15-20 degrees, allowing for the extraction and ejection of the fired cartridge casings. There is no separate magazine: for speed loading, the top-loading system uses 7-round stripper clips and allows for an impressive capacity of up to 13+1 rounds. (Cartridges can also be loaded manually one at a time.) According to the manufacturer, this way fine motor skills are greatly diminished in high-stress situations, reducing room for error. A very minimalistic approach to carry guns, the KelTec PR-3AT weighs just 273.9 g (403.7 g loaded), with an overall length of 141.8 mm. Barrel is 2.85”/72.5 mm long. Several color option are available. MSRP in the US is $399.99.

IWI Mafteah, ultra-compact 12-ga shotgun
Manufactured by IWI and designed for close-quarters combat, the Mafteah is a semi-automatic 12-ga shotgun with 76-mm chamber and a 14"/355 mm barrel. The recoil-operated system utilizes a recoil spring around the magazine tube, making the shotgun very compact and reliable, with an overall weight of approximately 2.5 kg. The charging handle is reversible, and the capacity is five rounds. The receiver is tapped for MOS optics or a Mil-STD-1913 rail. The stock is made of reinforced polymer with QD attachments – the handguard has M-LOK slots for the mounting of accessories. The safety is the classic cross-bolt system. The price of the IWI Mafteah in the United States is $999.99.

Magpul Folding Defensive Platform (FDP), the 9mm rapid deployment folding gun
Born from a collaboration between Magpul and Zev, the Folding Defensive Platform – or FDP for short – is a groundbreaking folding design available as both a short-barreled rifle/carbine (FDP-C) and a pistol (FDP-P). Caliber is 9mm. Thanks to its unique folding stock that reduces the overall length, the FDP is a compact, portable and very concealable defensive weapon system designed for law enforcement, military personnel, and civilians alike. The folding stock locks securely for transport and unfolds swiftly, ensuring the firearm is ready to fire in case of need. Lightweight and maneuverable in close quarters, the FDP also has a 1913 Picatinny rail for optics, lights, and other accessories, enhancing its operational flexibility. Iron sights are adjustable iron and built right into the included carry handle. Controls – charging system and magazine release – are ambidextrous or reversible. MSRP is $1,699. Unfortunately, at this time the Magpul FDP is not available outside the US.

CRKT M16 Bali, back to everyday use
The CRKT M16 is one of the most important modern knives ever made, and continues to be a source of inspiration even after the passing of Kit Carson. The brilliant knifemaker and US Army veteran who designed the M16 model for the US knife manufacturer in the late 1990s probably never imagined that one of his many designs would become the genesis of countless variations. The latest, and perhaps the most unexpected, is called the Bali and, as you may have already guessed, is a Balisong, or "butterfly" knife. But in an era when, thanks in part to social media, balisongs have become almost sporting tools for exhibitions of skill, the one offered by CRKT brings us back to this knife's original purpose: everyday use. Manufactured in the USA by Live Sharp Industries, the CRKT M16 Bali features an 85.70 mm (3.35") blade with an American Tanto profile made of MagnaCut steel. Blade edge is plain and the finish is stonewashed. The titanium handle helps make this knife very light (73 grams) despite its overall length of 197 millimeters. The CRKT M16 Bali is priced in the US at $300.
