World premiere: Liemke Keiler-2 LRF, the handy thermal imager now with laser rangefinder

Liemke's thermal imaging devices are generally characterised by their ease of use, and the latest addition to the product range, the Keiler-2 LRF, is no exception. Common to all devices in the Keiler series are the intuitive and ambidextrous controls as well as brilliant imaging performance at all times. While the predecessor Keiler-1 was already advertised as "the long-range specialist", the Keiler-2 LRF now also has an integrated laser rangefinder, which measures precise distances of up to 1000 metres (+/- 1 meter) with class 1 laser. This means that the distance required for an accurate shot can be determined in the same measurement process. In the pre-set single mode, the measurement is taken to an object in the center of the image, while the SCAN setting allows continuous measurement to be carried out even with moving objects.

The outstanding optics use a fast 50-mm objective lens with an aperture of 1.1 and are designed to provide razor-sharp, high-contrast thermal images at a range of up to 2,500 m. The 1042x768 pixel HD OLED display is responsible for a brilliant image display which, together with the two switchable image modes (sun and rain) and five different color modes, guarantees a maximum overview and all your favourite settings. Conversely, less frequently used color modes can also be deactivated and do not have to be "skipped" each time. The following are available:

  • WH - White Hot: For precise identification, well suited for use at night due to the darker background
  • BH - Black Hot: Provides a more realistic visual impression with a dark target against a lighter background
  • ED - Extra Dark: Based on White Hot mode, with lower overall brightness and a warm color tone, ideal for protecting the eye's natural night vision function
  • RH - Red Hot: For quick detection of heat sources
  • RB - Rainbow: For displaying small temperature differences
  • In Sun mode, a soft and natural-looking picture is displayed. This setting is suitable for scenes or image areas with strong contrasts.
  • In Rain mode, a very low-contrast scene is processed in such a way that the slight differences are clearly displayed.
LIEMKE KEILER-2 LRF
The hand strap around the Liemke Keiler -2 LRF is suitable for both left and right-handed users and can be connected to a carrying strap (not included). Weighing just under 515 grams, the short device also fits easily into a jacket pocket, but delivers full optical performance immediately when unpacked.

The proven operating concept of the Keiler series has been retained: the scroll wheel in the center of the device controls the menu, zoom and distance measurement. The buttons are easily accessible on both sides. The hand strap was also designed for use with the right or left hand and can be coupled with the optional carrying strap. Wi-Fi is also on board and provides the connection to the outside world: the thermal imaging device can be connected to the new Liemke app via the integrated Wi-Fi function in order to transfer live images to a smartphone or tablet in real time and also save images directly in the app. The built-in memory of 32 GB offers enough space for photos in JPG image format and videos in MP4.

The thermal imaging specialist Liemke, which is part of the Blaser Group, emphasises its "Made in Germany" production, which is quite something in view of the thermal devices from other brands, most of which come from Asia. This also applies to service for the Keiler -2 LRF: the competent service team is available in Wetzlar if required. A manufacturer's warranty of up to three years applies with appropriate registration.

The Liemke Keiler-2 LRF thermal imaging handheld is now available from specialist dealers at a recommended retail price of 2,950 euros (RRP in Germany).
