SWAROWSKI OPTIK Z8i+ 5-40x56 P: New hunting riflescope for detailed observation and long distances

"With our Z8i riflescopes, we have been defining the state of the art in analogue riflescope technology for years. The combination of a true 8x zoom for maximum flexibility, brilliant optics, maximum visual comfort and a large field of view - built into a beautifully designed hunting riflescope - is unique. With the Z8i+ 5-40x56, we have once again succeeded in redefining the limits of what is technically feasible," comments Thomas Saller, Spokesperson for the Executive Board at SWAROVSKI OPTIK, on the launch of the new riflescope. Now it's time for all4hunters.com to take a closer look at the scope. What does it offer and for which hunter is it suitable?

The new SWAROVSKI OPTIK Z8i+ 5-40x56 in detail

"Closer to the game": thanks to the high magnification range, hunters can recognise every detail with the SWAROVSKI OPTIK Z8i+ 5-40x56.

The 8x zoom with a maximum magnification of 40x is naturally at the centre of the feature list for the Z8i+ series extension. This allows the scope magnification to be flexibly adapted to different hunting situations, especially at long distances. The riflescope is designed to offer uncompromisingly high image quality over the entire range. According to the manufacturer, even at 40x magnification and at longer distances, the scope impresses with its level of detail and enables a reliable response and precise target acquisition.

As with its siblings, the "Plus" in the Z8i+ 5-40x56 stands for a particularly large field of view and a generous eyebox. This is designed to allow precise target acquisition, even if the eye is not positioned exactly behind the eyepiece. The comfortable eyebox offers a potential advantage, particularly in hunting situations where quick reactions are crucial. It should allow the hunter to move their head flexibly without losing sight of the target. The riflescope is available with a classic 4-AI reticle. This consists of a fine crosshair with a central illuminated dot, which is supplemented by thicker bars towards the edge. This also ensures intuitive target acquisition.

The already richly equipped SWAROVSKI OPTIK Z8i+ 5-40x56 offers a wide range of expansion options.

Other features are also available: the ballistic turret flex (BTF) can be used both as an elevation and windage turret. 70 clicks are designed to allow the hunter to precisely adjust the shooting distance. According to SWAROVSKI OPTIK, they are particularly easy to feel. The personalised ballistic ring (PBR), which can be engraved based on the ballistic properties of the gun and ammunition used, is also ideal for individualisation. The throw lever (TL) offers quick and easy handling of the zoom ring. Additional accessories such as the SLP lens protection caps or the AFL+ heated anti-fog lenses are also available.

Classification of the SWAROVSKI OPTIK Z8i+ 5-40x56 P

With the 5-40x56, SWAROVSKI OPTIK rounds off the Z8i(+) series at the top end. In addition to many options in the field of universal and driven hunt optics, the series now offers a riflescope with a particularly high magnification range. This provides options for hunters who want or need to shoot far. Mountain hunting is just one example. And, of course, the riflescope can also be used in the classic hide if the hunter wants to be "closer to the game". The new Z8i+ has been available from well-stocked specialist retailers since February 2025 for 4,180 euros (RRP).

We at all4hunters.com hope to have the opportunity to test it in practice soon and will of course report back.
