What is 4,5 mm caliber?

4.5mm (or .177) caliber is the smallest diameter of pellets used in air guns and is the only caliber generally accepted for formal target competition - air guns used in the Olympic disciplines are .177 caliber. It can also be used for hunting small game.

4,5 mm pellets

The most common design for 4,5 mm pellets is the "diabolo" (or "wasp waist pellet"), but round balls also exist. Wadcutter, domed (round nose), hollow point and pointed are some of the diabolo types that can be found. The weight of a 4.5 pellet ranges from 0.30 to 0.87 grams. Material is usually lead or lead alloy. Non-toxic alternatives, such as tin or plastic, are available.
