04/07/2015 - IWA 2015 / The Mossberg company showcased its MVP LC bolt-action light chassis long-range shooting rifle
In 2011, the O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. company debuted its Mossberg-Varmint Predator (MVP) line of versatile bolt-action rifles, available in a plethora of variants and in popular calibers such as .223 Remington/5,56x45mm and .308 Winchester/7,62x51mm, feeding through detachable AR-15, AR-10 or M14/M1A magazines.
The MVP line has been expanded ever since then to include models conceived specifically for target shooting, hunting, or even Police tactical applications. The latest addition to the line was showcased this January at the 2015 SHOT Show, in Las Vegas, and debuted on the European markets at the 2015 IWA OutdoorClassics expo in Nuremberg (Germany): the MVP LC ("Light Chassis"), designed for versatility and shot-after-shot consistency in the field or at the range.
in an aluminum, tan-finished, light chassis stock designed by MDT
that provides a modular, ergonomic base, this MVP is engineered for
accuracy with its V-shaped bedding and recoil lug area which only
makes contact with the receiver at those points. The free-floating,
medium bull barrel is threaded and comes with a SilencerCo Saker
muzzle brake, utilizing the Trifecta quick-detach mounting system
(thread cap included). The barrels, constructed of carbon steel, are
button-rifled with 16.25-inch length and 1:7 twist rate in the .223 Remington/5,56x45mm chambering and the .308 Winchester/7,62x51mm sports an
18.5-inch barrel with a 1:10 twist rate. Both feature a matte blue
finish on all metalwork.
Enhancing the accuracy on the MVP LC platform is Mossberg’s own LBA ("Lightning Bolt Action") trigger system, delivering a crisp and creep-free trigger pull that's also user-adjustable from 3 to 7 pounds. Machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and hard-coat anodized to military spec, preventing corrosion and minimizing wear, the LBA trigger system delivers the utmost in reliability and durability for consistent shot placement. Additional design features include: spiral fluted bolt; oversized tactical-style bolt handle; MIL-STD-1913 "Picatinny" top rail for ease of adding optics; and adjustable bipod. Mossberg's MVP LC rifles feed through aftermarket AR15, M14/M1A or AR-10 magazines.
The Mossberg MVP LC bolt action rifles are all equipped with MagPul's streamlined, A-frame profile CTR stocks, adjustable in their lenght of pull and featuring a friction-lock system that minimizes excessive movement; and with MagPul MOE pistol grips, featuring an ergonomic, hand-filling design combined with a comfortable slip-proof texturing and a handy storage core. An ambidextrous QD sling mount, rubber recoil pad and interchangeable height adjustment combs (3 included) add to the versatility of the platform.
The Mossberg MVP LC rifles are also available in a Scoped Combo variant, which includes a Vortex Optics Viper HS-T ("Hunter Shooter Tactical") 4-16x44mm variable riflescope and relevant rings. This versatile scope is built on a strong 30mm one-piece machined aluminum tube with target-style turrets for windage and elevation adjustments and boasts a hash mark-based, second-focal-plane reticle perfect for accurate holds at extended ranges.
