03/07/2014 - RUAG Ammotec headquarters in Fürth, Germany hosted for
the second consecutive time the International IWA Shooting Day event, in the wake
of last year’s huge success; media members from all over the world have been invited
to attend the launch–and live fire test! – of RWS, Sauer, Blaser, Mauser, ZEISS
and Rigby new products in exclusive.
Closely knitted with the IWA exhibition, being held on March 6th 2014 - the day before IWA officially open its doors to the specialized media and trade visitors - the 2nd international IWA Shooting Day has been a unique occasion for partner brands to showcase, and allow the rare privilege to test fire and experience the full range of features that their new products can offer, to a select few members of the international media.
This year, firearms, optics and ammunition manufactured by RWS, Sauer, Blaser, Mauser, ZEISS and Rigby have been available on the range before they will be actually presented to the public at IWA; for the occasion, a selection of the new hunting apparel and accessories introduced by Härkila have also been on display.
RUAG’s secretive and historical manufacturing factory in Fürth, Germany, where RWS, GECO and Rottweil ammunition is made, is located just 15 minutes away from downtown Nuremberg. The facility offers several indoor and outdoor ranges, including a 500 meter tunneled range (which features an actually curved longitudinal profile to follow closely the ballistic arc of most hunting and military calibers), a 300 meter open range, and even a specialized airgun range.
The 2nd international IWA Shooting Day commenced Thursday, 6th March 2014 at noon, with an official welcome to all participants and a Frankonian BBQ lunch, followed by a brief introduction to the event and new product presentations. Guests had been divided in groups, so that, when the five ranges reserved for the live fire testing opened at 13:00, everyone had the opportunity to shoot the available guns; a guided tour of a part of the ammunition manufacturing facility also took place. The event ended in the afternoon, at 17:00.
The hunting rifles presented at the event were available in a variety of calibers, and were fitted with Carl Zeiss Sport Optics riflescopes, including the new top of the line Victory V8 in both 1.8-14x50 and 2.8-20x56 with ASV LongRange variants, and RWS Evo Green lead-free hunting ammunition was available for live fire testing.
This unique setting saw the introduction of many brand-new products, the most interesting of which we briefly highlight here.
presented the HIT (High Impact Technology) centerfire hunting lead-free bullet,
that will be available in a number of popular hunting calibers in the third
quarter of 2014, while GECO introduced the Hexagon 9mm pistol Match loading
featuring a specially engineered and extremely accurate hollow point bullet.
