Four new Savage Arms MSR semi-automatic rifle models
Based on the AR-10 platform
The MSR 10 Long Range is Savage’s answer to the demand for high-performance and more modern sporting rifles for long-range shooting. Savage Arms has packed all the features expected of a semi-automatic precision rifle into the MSR platform — producing the MSR 10 Long Range. The semi-automatic rifle is available in the calibers .308 Win. or 6.5 Creedmoore and has a compact AR-10 design. The receiver is matte black anodized and the ribbed barrel has a Melonite QPQ finish.

Savage Arms has outfitted the MSR 10 Long Range with an M-LOK handguard, an adjustable Magpul PRS Gen3 buttstock, and a BLACKHAWK! two-stage precision trigger. The magazine holds ten rounds. The Long Range model has a 20-inch barrel in caliber .308 Win., a total length of approx. 105 cm, and weighs about 4.4 kilograms. The model in caliber 6.5 Creedmoore is slightly larger at 4.5 kilograms, features a 22-inch barrel, and has a total length of approx. 111 centimeters.
The manufacturer’s recommended retail price for the MSR 10 Long Range is US$2,284.
Also based on the AR-10 platform, Savage presented the MSR 10 Hunter in the high-caliber .308 Win. and 6.5 Creedmoore. As the name says, it has been designed to appeal to hunters as well. Savage has outfitted this model with a BLACKHAWK! AR Blaze trigger and an extendable AXIOM buttstock by the same brand.
The pistol grip is also from BLACKHAWK! (KNOXX AR). The variant in caliber .308 Win. has a 16-inch barrel, a total length of approx. 100 cm, and weighs around 3.5 kg. The MSR Hunter in caliber .6.5 Creedmoore is equipped with an 18-inch barrel, has a total length of approx. 105 cm, and a weight of 3.6 kg.
The manufacturer’s recommended retail price for the MSR 10 Hunter is US$1,481.
Built on the AR-15 platform
The Savage Arms MSR 15 Patrol is one of the two AR-15 models and one step closer to the many M4 clones available on the market. With its improved 16-inch barrel in caliber .223 Rem., the MSR 15 Patrol provides more precision than conventional AR-15 rifles. With a handguard, pistol grip, adjustable buttstock, and mechanical flip-up sights from BLACKHAWK! as part of the default configuration, the Patrol further sets itself apart from other semi-automatics. The Patrol weighs around 2,950 grams. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price for the Savage Arms MSR 15 Patrol is US$852.

Another model based on the AR-15 platform is the Savage Arms MSR 15 Recon. The difference to the Patrol is the significantly longer, free-float M-LOK handguard with continuous Picatinny rail. The 16-inch barrel in this model is also made of Tenifer (Melonite) with a QPQ finish. The pistol grip, adjustable buttstock, and mechanical flip-up sights are from BLACKHAWK! The MSR 15 Recon is slightly longer and hence a littler heavier (approx. 3,175 grams) than the Patrol. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price for the Savage Arms MSR 15 Recon is US$999.

It is unknown if and when these AR-10 and AR-15 semi-automatic rifles will be coming to Europe.
