New from GSG – German Sport Guns this year at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas was an interesting prototype of a semi-automatic rimfire rifle conceived mainly for sport shooting – but also viable for hunting where legal – whose final form will unfortunately not be available before the year 2017.
The GSG G14 semi-automatic rifle has been loosely patterned after the look and feel of the Heckler & Koch G36 assault rifle – just like the G14 airsoft gun that German Sport Guns has been distributing worldwide for more than a year now. And as a matter of fact, the GSG G14 rimfire is nothing else but the chassis of that airsoft gun hosting the internal components of the popular German Sport Guns GSG-522 series of carbines.
Chambered for the .22 Long Rifle rimfire ammunition, the GSG G14 feeds through the company's own, proprietary magazines and sports a reversible cocking handle and an ambidextrous magazine release catch and manual safety.
The stock is adjustable for lenght, and the 16-inch barrel sports a fake silencer barrel shroud. The chassis is available in black or desert tan, and integrates a top MIL-STD-1913 “Picatinny” rail for optical sights and three shorter rail segments on the handguard.
