SIG Sauer Range Day: MPX Carbine in 9mm Luger

Alongside the "Industry Day at the Range” event at the Boulder Rifle & Pistol Club shooting range in the Nevada desert, the "SIG Sauer Range Day" was held at the same time on Monday, January 18, 2016, one day before the fair opened. We also tested SIG Sauer’s current line of new products ourselves at the Clark County Shooting Complex.

This renowned manufacturer with large-scale production facilities on the US east coast, which is increasingly developing into a full-range supplier with optics, ammunition and silencers, had a lot to offer the estimated 1500 guests. There was, for example, the demonstration of impressive shooting skills by the well-known US-IPSC action shooter Max Michel Jr. The current IPSC world champion in the open division holds, among other distinctions, six Steel Challenge World Champion titles and eight USPSA National Master titles.

At the last "World Speed Shooting Championships" in 2015 (extremely fast shooting at steel plates in defined courses, better known as the "Steel Challenge”), he shot his way to a new world record with the polymer service pistol SIG Sauer P320 in the "Smoke & Hope” course — and that against big-name competition with their highly-customized and finely tuned "Full House Race Guns" — well done!

SIG Sauer MPX

As usual, the stars of the show were the young Full Auto/Semi Auto rifles and machine pistols from the "MCX" and "MPX” series. All4shooters.com has already discussed these extremely adaptable multi-caliber modular weapon systems in detail previously. The semi-automatic carbine variant of the SIG Sauer MPX machine pistol is completely new, with a 16“ barrel in 9 mm Luger, and can also be purchased on the commercial civilian market in federal states with more restrictive laws.

Among the newcomers there is, for example, the reworked version of the SIG Sauer M400 Predator automatic rifle with direct gas inlet in the calibers .223 Remington or .300 Blackout, conceived primarily for use in the field. The dapper model has an 18“ barrel in .223 Rem. and a 16“ barrel in .300 BLK with muzzle thread for attaching suppressors or silencers, a long, round free-floating aluminum hand guard with the popular "M-LOK" system for mounting accessories, as well as a match trigger.

New SIG Sauer products at 2016 SHOT Show - Pistols

Among the hand guns, the models in the new Legion series will probably attract the most interest, together with a SIG P250 Compact small bore and a limited edition P229 "Carry” variant. These models are in fact especially elegant versions of the P226/229 (and other models from the comprehensive lineup) with an anthracite gray PVD coating, G-10 grip panels and new night-active X-Ray 3 sights, and each one is delivered with three magazines. But there is also more to it than just that: Legion customers are given preferential treatment when new products are introduced as well as for shooting courses at the renowned SIG Sauer Academy.
