In Europe we had already seen the new SIG Sauer P365 at the beginning of March at IWA and we had the opportunity to fire a few test shots. This time we've had the chance in the US to extensively try out this model and gather interesting impressions. We have also summed up all of this into a short video.
SIG Sauer P365 pistol: features
The 500-g (empty weight) P365 Nitron Micro-Compact in 9-mm Luger is basically a highly tapered P320 striker-fired, polymer-framed pistol that has the ideal measurements for discrete or concealed carry for self-protection: 147 mm (length) × 109 mm (height) × 27 mm (width). The exceedingly slim, ergonomically designed frame truly is a first-class fit in the hand, yet the double-stacked magazine holds 10 or 12 rounds.
This handy, sturdy pistol is also in high demand in its home country, the US, so you have to deal with a large amount of back-orders, also when it comes to the powerful 9 mm Luger +P ammunition. With the extended polymer floor plate magazine you have a maximum fire power of 12+1 rounds (10+1 with the standard magazine).
In this extended configuration, the SIG Sauer P365 Nitron Micro-Compact should fit even shooters with big hands quite well. The stainless steel slide with black nitrone surface finish features back and front serrations. This facilitates weapon manipulation such as a "press check" for chamber control.
SIG Sauer P365: a match quality mini-pistol
This sub-compact pistol with a Browning-Petter-SIG locking system and 79-mm long barrel benefits in actual shooting, above all from its good, crisp, short-reset trigger and a useful, low XRay 3 tritium sight for use both day and night.
Pattern sizes at various distances show it is comparable to full-fledged duty pistols – stunning! However, in close distance drills with higher rates of fire, the P365 is absolutely convincing in two- and one-handed shooting positions both with the “strong hand” and “weak hand”. We were simply impressed.
SIG Sauer P365: prices and delivery times
The demand for the SIG P365 is enormous, especially in the USA. Although a total of up to 6,000 pistols per month are built, this is not enough to cater for all those interested. Not least for this reason, we assume that the market launch of the P365 in Europe we will have a small time delay.
The current information from the manufacturer is that the gun will be available in the european market from July 1st, 2018. The recomended retail price will be around 900€ (depending on the VAT of each country).
