The Ruger LCR Lightweight Compact Revolver was first launched in 2009, and has since established itself as a mainstay of the products line offered by Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. − and of the international market for civilian defensive guns altogether.
Introducing novel features such as a polymer trigger housing and a part aluminum, part fibreglass-reinforced polymer frame to maintain the overall weight to a record low, the Ruger LCR revamped the success of pocket revolvers as a whole category in the field of concealed carry firearms for personal defense, off-duty carry or undercover operations.

As the years went by, the Ruger LCR was purchased by countless civilians, Law Enforcement officers and private security operators all around the world, and has since evolved in different caliber versions (nominally .22 Long Rifle, .22 WMR and .357 Magnum) and in an external hammer version dubbed the Ruger LCRx.
Now, the Ruger LCR family of lightweight compact revolvers grows of yet another member, with the introduction of the Ruger LCR 9mm Luger version, chambered for the popular 9x19mm semi-automatic pistol caliber.
The use of 9mm Luger ammunition adds versatility to the platform, allowing shooters to employ a plethora of different loads available on the market, according the their specific needs concerning recoil, muzzle climb, etc., and most notably stopping power.

Since 9x19mm is a rimless caliber, the Ruger LCR 9mm Luger revolver will feed through moon-clips: three, manufactured out of sheet metal, are provided with each gun, and all are built to last thousands of rounds. Each moon clip holds five rounds (that's the overall capacity of the Ruger LCR to begin with); the moon clip loading allows quicker and easy reloading, which can definitely make a difference in life or death situations.
Just like all LCR versions, the Ruger LCR 9mm Luger model is a double-action-only revolver, with a fully internal hammer and a friction reducing cam to keep the trigger pull weight under acceptable levels.
The monolythic frame of the Ruger LCR 9mm Luger revolver is manufactured out of Synergistic hard-coated black, 400-series stainless steel, and supports a 1.875"-long (4,76 centimetres) barrel with six right-handed grooves and a 1:16" pitch.

The five-shots cylinder is manufactured in high-strenght stainless steel, is extensively fluted for lighter weight and sports an extremely resistant Ionbond Diamondback surface finish.
Another peculiar feature of the Ruger LCR 9mm Luger revolver is the replaceable, pinned ramp front sight with a white inlay for quicker alignment and target reacquisition. The Ruger LCR 9mm Luger revolver also sports a recoil-reducing Hogue Tamer ergonomic rubberized synthetic monogrip.
The Ruger LCR 9mm Luger revolver is 6.5" (16,51cm) long, 4.5" (11,43cm) high and 1.28" (3,25cm) wide; its overall weight reaches 17.20oz. (487,61 grams) when unloaded.
The distribution of Ruger's new Lightweight Compact Revolver in 9x19mm caliber has just kicked off in the United States of America, at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $599.00 (approximately 472,25€ at current change). As of today, however, there is no information concerning international exports and availability outside of the USA.
