After the G17 e G19 models, GLOCK has extended the Generation 5 improvements to the G26 and the G34 models - the latter is only available in Modular Optic System (MOS) configuration. This brings the GLOCK Gen5 family to four models, plus the G19X which is a “crossover” model.
Over twenty design changes distinguish the G26 and the G34MOS Gen5 them from their Gen4 counterparts. First of all, the new pistols are equipped with the GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB) which, according to the Manufacturer, delivers increased accuracy thanks to its enhanced polygonal rifling and an improved barrel crown.
GLOCK G26 and G34 MOS Gen5: new features
Other interesting features that the new G26 and G34 share with all Gen5 GLOCKS are:
- No finger grooves on the grip.
- Only two frame pins (the locking block pin it is not needed for the Gen5 configuration).
- Ambidextrous slide stop levers.
- NDLC (Nitride Diamond Like Coating) finish on barrel and slide, which is a tougher and more durable finish exclusive to the GLOCK manufacturing process.

The Gen 5 G26 and G34 magazines also come with a new style orange follower, while the GLOCK G34 MOS Gen5 adds a flared magwell coupled with Gen5 magazines whose floor plate is enlarged at the front for faster magazine change.

Gen5 GLOCK models inherited a series of features from the Gen4, like the backstraps in two sizes each one with or without beaver tail that allow the users to change the circumference of the grip to fit their individual hand size, and the reversible and enlarged magazine catch. Like Gen4 pistols, Gen5 pistols have a rough textured frame (Gen4 RTF) surface designed to enhance grip traction on the frame as well as on the interchangeable backstraps.
The G26 Gen5 and the G34 Gen5 MOS will be available beginning January 22nd, 2018.
The G34 Gen5 MOS will be offered with a 10-round magazine or the standard 17-round version, with a MSRP of 899 USD (754 euro, excl. tax). The G26 Gen5 will have a price tag of 699 USD (586 euro, excl. tax).
