Parallel to the Industry Day at the Range, the 2018 SIG Sauer's own Range Day was as expected an intense and stimulating event. Now in its 5th edition, it offered the chance to put our hands on almost all of SIG Sauer USA’s products, ranging from pistols to rifles, optics, accessories and ammo. Here are some of the highlights.
The 5th SIG Sauer Range Day

On the Range Day of the SIG Sauer US subsidiary, the invited guests and journalists were able to test fire SIG's weapons. The Company, headquartered in Newington / USA, has already become a full-service supplier.
In addition to short and long weapons, optics, ammunition, silencers and even compressed air recreational weapons are available in its large product range.
The 5th SIG Sauer Range Day took place with more than 1,000 visitors again on the sprawling shooting range "Clark County Shooting Complex". The shooting range, with 1,200 hectares, is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the United States.
Of course we were invited to the SIG Sauer Range Day 2018 and live on site to test and report on the latest products.
SIG Sauer Range Day: handguns
In the field of handguns SIG Sauer USA presented the new pistols P365 and P938 Stand.

SIG Sauer P365 pistol
The new P365 is a polymer-framed, high-capacity, micro-compact striker-fired pistol with a total capacity of 10+1 rounds (up to 13 rounds with the optional extended magazine). SIG Sauer advertises it as “the ultimate concealed carry pistol”.
Thanks to P365's special narrow-neck magazine, the design allows the upper part of the grip to be perfectly contoured to fit the shooter’s thumb when fired. The fully-textured grip allows for a perfect, firm purchase. A slim-line rail can accommodate SIG light or laser accessories, making the P365 even more effective and accurate. The slide is stainless steel slide with front and rear serrations.

SIG Sauer P938 Stand pistol
The SIG Sauer P938 Stand is a special edition of the 9mm Luger P938 pistol. What sets it apart is the striking polished slide engraved with the American flag and the word “STAND” displayed on the ejection port side of the gun. The P398 Stand has been in fact designed by SIG to show support to veterans, active-duty military, and the families of fallen law enforcement officers. This very compact 1911-style gun is equipped with a 7-round magazine, a stainless steel frame and slide and the barrel is carbon steel and full-size SIGLITE Night Sights.
Also present at the SIG's Range Day – it could not be otherwise – the M17, the polymer-framed pistol based on the well-known P320. Almost everything has already been said and written about this 9mm gun that last year won the US Army MHS competition and will replace the venerable Beretta 92 in the US military. Suffice to say that the “civilian” M17 includes the mil-standard FDE Cerakote finish, a manual thumb safety and a milled slide plate designed to accept micro red-dot optics and promises to be a big hit on the market.
SIG Sauer "Select": 4 new models in the mid-price segment
The new line of Select pistols contains four different models: P226 Select, P229 Select, P238 Select and P938 Select. The new series of pistols looks like a blend of feature of the Legion models and the Standard P-series. They will be availabe in .380 and 9 mm.
Look and feel is great and we think it's a good strategy to offer a new line that's cheaper than the Legion models.
SIG Sauer ASP 20 Air Rifle
The new SIG Sauer ASP 20 suppressed single-shot air rifle comes in two calibers: .177 and .22. The so called Advanced Sport Pellet (ASP) air rifle delivers down-range power and accuracy with the lightest cocking effort in its class, making it perfect for hunting small game. This "break barrel" air rifle features the airgun industry’s most advanced trigger system – the crisp and adjustable ASP MatchLite trigger, which is ultra-smooth in its operation and can be adjusted to break at one of eight different pull rates – from 2.5 to 4 pounds (1,13 to 1,81 kg) – allowing shooters to select the break that’s most comfortable.
SIG Sauer Range Day: new rifles for 2018

SIG Sauer MCX
In 2017 SIG developed the MCX Rattler as a extremely short barreled AR-type rifle designed for the military and civilian market. Featuring a 5.5" PDW barre, the MCX can be described as the more discrete and compact counterpart of the MCX, while retaining all the capabilities of the latter. Chambered in 300 BLK only and available in two versions with foldable or telescoping stock for easy concealment and stowage, the MCX Rattler is the ideal choice for fast-moving operators.
Engineered and built to be the “most adaptive, accurate and longest-lasting rifle available”, according to SIG, at the Range Day the MCX Virtus showed its virtues (pun intended). The rifle is configurable in more than 500 combinations and enhanced for a 20,000-round service life without a single part replacement. Available in 5.56 NATO and 300 BLK chamberings, it utilizes the SIG Sauer short-stroke piston system and unique internal recoil system that eliminates the M4-style buffer tube. The MCX Virtus is offered in three versions - Patrol, SBR and Pistol - and can be equipped with eight free-floating M-LOK handguards both in standard and suppressor-ready configurations.

The SUR 300 is an interesting and effective suppressed upper chambered in 300 blackout. It's a real “drop on” upper compatible not only with the SIG MCX, but with any standard AR15 lower too. It includes a 6.75” barrel with a permanently attached 19-baffle titanium suppressor pinned and welded to it for extra robustness. The SUR 300 is capable of firing supersonic and subsonic ammunition, and features a free float M-lok Handguard, a short stroke piston and a tunable gas block.
SIG Sauer 716 G2
The SIG716 G2, already available in 7.62mm, now combines its tested reliability and ergonomics with the increasingly popular 6.5 Creedmoor. The SIG716 G2 features a short-stroke pushrod gas system that reduces carbon fouling, and is equipped with an adjustable gas valve. The rifle also sports a built in Picatinny top rail with 20 MOA of elevation and ambidextrous controls. Some SIG716 G2s seen at the Range Day showed little changes as compared to the previous versions, like the adjustable Magpul PRS stock and a slightly redesigned handguard.
SIG Sauer Range Day 2018 wrap-up
The US offshoot of the German weapons manufacturer SIG Sauer presented itself on the Range Day 2018 with a large variety of products. SIG Sauer is already a big name in the US market and can compete with AR-15 and AR-10 style rifles, pistols in almost every caliber, ammunition, optics and accessories.
The Company impressively demonstrated at Range Day why it calls itself a "complete system outfitter".

Further information on SIG Sauer USA can be found directly on the company's website.
