Davide Pedersoli new firearms in 2018: replicas, pistols, shotguns

At the SHOT Show 2018 Davide Pedersoli showcased two already-familiar products, the  1854 Lorenz Infantry Rifle Type II and the flintlock side-by-side shotgun, plus a deluxe variant of its appreciated Howdah pistol.

Lorenz 1854 Infantry Rifle Type II by Davide Pedersoli
Lorenz 1854 Infantry Rifle Type II is a percussion type muzzleloader in 13,9 caliber presented by Pedersoli at SHOT Show 2018.

Pedersoli is world-famous for its historical firearms replicas: a wide range of guns, short and long, military and civil, for collectors, shooters, hunters and reenactors too.

Its 1854 Lorenz Infantry Rifle Type II is a beautiful reproduction of the  firearm conceived in the 1850s by the Austrian Lieutenant Joseph Lorenz to replace the older Augustin rifle issued to Austrian troops. The official production started in 1854, and the Lorenz Rifle was used in Italy during the Second Independence War (1859), as well as in the Balkans. It reached the New World, too, equipping both the Union and the Confederate armies and becoming the second most common imported firearm during the American Civil War.

Pedersoli 1854 Lorenz Infantry Rifle, a high quality replica

Pedersoli introduced Lorenz Type II with an adjustable leaf sight was issued to officers.

A percussion-type muzzle loader of the same generation of the British Pattern 1853 Enfield and the American Springfield Model 1861, the original rifle itself is a typical rifle-musket of the mid-19th century.

The Type I was issued to line infantry, while the Type II – with an adjustable leaf sight – was carried by non-commissioned officers and skirmishers. Pedersoli chose to replicate the latter model.

The Lorenz Rifle replica shows the highest standards and the use of advanced production technologies.

Pedersoli Howdah pistol deluxe

A great classic of the British colonial era to protect its owners from tigers and lions, Pedersoli's Howdah pistol reproduces the imposing model – actually, more like a very compact  side-by-side shotgun - designed by the Ithaca Company in the 1920’s.

Pedersoli Howdah can shoot either .45 Colt or .410 Magnum ammos.

It features two 10” (256 mm) rifled barrels and i's fitted with a special cartridge chamber so that it can be interchangeably used with either .45 Long Colt caliber cartridges or 410 gauge shotshells.

Among the features of this fascinating replica, the manual extractors and the automatic safety on the hammers. The trigger is single-selective, with the selector placed on the safety button. The action is case hardened and the stock is oil-finished walnut. In this deluxe version barrels are browned, and the gun is adorned by a sober engraving on the action and the opening lever.

The golden trigger is another touch that adds character to an already striking classic firearm. The team of all4shooters tested the standard version some time ago.

Pedersoli flintlock side-by-side shotgun

Pure old-time elegance in the flintlock side-by-side shotgun proposed by Davide Pedersoli. The 20-gauge shotgun replicates a late-18th century weapon but can be used in a typical modern hunting context thanks to its high-quality materials and up-to-date methods of construction: the 27 9/16 in (700 mm) long barrels are chromed inside and slightly choked, with a fine brown finish.

The walnut stock is enriched by an unusual and elaborate checkering. The side plates, hammers, tang and trigger guard feature delicate floral engravings, while the trigger guard is formed into a small scroll or finger rest, true to old style muzzleloaders. The overall length is 43 11/16 in, or 1110 mm, with a weight of 7.71 lbs, or 3.5 kg.
