“Slash and Flash”, First Tactical’s gloves

Tactical gloves are often too “tactical” (i.e. uncomfortable and poorly fitting) or too much “gloves” (thin and delicate). Finding the right balance between sturdiness and handiness is like trying to combine the proverbial iron fist with a velvet glove. First Tactical offer an interesting and functional solution with their new Slash Patrol gloves.

First Tactical's “Slash & Flash” glove: fire and cut resistant

First Tactical's Slash & Flash Hard Knuckle Glove boasts a cut resistant Kevlar lined palm that is Level II certified and a Nomex jersey with flame resistant silicon overprint.

Designed to be both reliable and durable without giving up the mobility of lighter wear alternatives, First Tactical's Slash & Flash Hard Knuckle Glove boasts a cut resistant Kevlar lined palm that is Level II certified – perfect for operators who are handling sharp objects while on the job – and a Nomex jersey with flame resistant silicon overprint that provides security as well as improved stretch and recovery. The goatskin palm is machine washable.

The back of the hand is covered by a nonporous, perforated padding. A hard TPR insert gives full knuckle protection, while the TouchTac tip of the index finger does not feature Kevlar, allowing the glove to be touchscreen friendly and more sensitive. The finger knuckles are also padded with neoprene. Fourchettes are perforated to ensure breathability.

With operators in mind, the thumb gusset design is U-shaped for a good pistol grip and superior recoil control.

The Slash Patrol version sports the same cut resistant Kevlar lined palm and all the other characteristics, but no TPR knuckle protection or flame resistant silicon overprint. It features instead lightweight snag proof stretch woven materials allowing for a precise fit and professional appearance. The Slash Patrol gloves also have a “BezelCuff” watch cutout at wrist for oversized tactical watches.

Both the “Slash & Flash” and “Slash Patrol” models feature a hook-and-loop wrist closure.

The recommended retail price is 49.99 US dollars for the Slash & Flash Hard Knuckle Glove and 39.99 US dollars for the Slash Patrol Glove.
