With their different versions and the wide range of calibers in which they are chambered, the Sako 85 hunting rifles have already won for years the respect of hunters from all over the world thanks to their proverbial reliability and accuracy. In particular, the great bolt smoothness is appreciated, which translates into a fast repetition and into a quick extraction of the case, allowing for a chambering of the next cartridge without uncertainty even in extreme conditions. The Sako 85 rifle bolt is built in six different lengths, depending on the cartridge that will be chambered.
Sako 85 Carbon Wolf: technical features
The Sako 85 Carbon Wolf owes its original name to the adjustable carbon fiber stock, made with a RTF (Resin Transfer Molding) technology that uses a closed-mold, vacuum-assisted process to produce large objects with complex surfaces, edges and curves with absolute precision. The cheek piece and the buttpad can be adjusted simply by pressing the release button, which is well recessed into the stock surface so that it can’t be pressed accidentally. The "soft touch" stock surface enables the hunter to maintain a firm and secure grip.
The fluted barrel is threaded for applying muzzle brakes or sound reducers, where permitted. It’s 62 or 51 cm long. As standard, the rifle does not have metal sights but is designed to accept optics rings. The weight, according to the caliber and the barrel length, ranges from 3.3 to 3.5 kg. The 5- or 6- rounds magazine (according to the caliber) is removable.
Other features are the same as the other models of the Sako 85 series. The rifle is available in 6.5 Creedmoor, .22-250 Rem, .243 Win, .260 Rem, 7mm-08 Rem, .308 Win, .25-06 Rem, 6.5x55 SE, .270 Win, .30-06, 8x57IS, 9.3x62, 7mm Rem Mag, .300 Win Mag.
