The Extended Range (ER) model is a hybrid between a hunting and a sports shooting gun. In fact, it was designed for those hunters who intend to increase the distance of engagement, without having to use a real shooting rifle.
Sabatti SAPHIRE ER: technical features
The action is the same as the previous Saphire rifles, obtained from a single block of Ergal with integrated Picatinny rails to allow for an easier mounting of the optics.
The bolt maintains the three-lug locking system, but the grip, interchangeable on request, is a tactical type to facilitate and speed up reloading. The barrel increases its thickness to 17 mm, 2 mm more than the traditional hunting rifle, and the cold-hammer forged barrel is made with a Multiradial profile.
The length is 610 mm for standard calibers and 650mm for magnum ones. In addition, the muzzle is threaded for muzzle brakes and the barrels are interchangeable. It is also possible to mount two types of triger: a 3-lever match trigger (with a pull weight of 600 g) or the stecher trigger with a pull weight of 250 g. Another important novelty is the stock with a pistol grip and a fore-end that, albeit short, has a flat front surface for better support and accuracy in every situation.
The cheek pad is adjustable and the technopolymer the kick is made of is a resistant, but ultralight material that dampens vibrations. The ER is available in .308 Win., 7mm-08 Rem., .270 Win., .30-06 Spring., 6.5x55 SE, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7x57, 7x64, 7 Rem. Mag., .300 Win. Mag. The weight is around 3.4 kg and the magazine capacity is 3 rounds.
