ReCover Tactical BC2 tactical grip and rail system for Beretta 92 type pistols

ReCover Tactical BC2
Manufactured in Israel, the BC2 system joins the CC3 in ReCover Tactical's line of tactical add-on grip systems for service pistols

About one year ago, we wrote about the CC3 add-on kit marketed by the US-based ReCover Tactical brand: a polymer "tactical grip system" conceived to replace the standard factory grips of any full-size or Commander-size 1911-type pistol and to enshroud its frame, providing superior gripping and a MIL-STD-1913 "Picatinny" rail for tactical accessories in a snap of fingers, and for a couple of bucks.

A few weeks ago, ReCover Tactical announced that the design has been adapted to the popular Beretta 92-type pistol platform: the ReCover Tactical BC2 kit will still be marketed by CAMPCO Inc. − out of Los Angeles, California (USA) − and US-based shooters can now place pre-orders on the ReCover Tactical website.

Just like the original CC3 system, the new ReCover Tactical BC2 design is the brainchild of the Israeli designer and engineer Tamir Porat. 47-years-old Porat is the owner of the Tel Aviv based Versia Military Design studio, dedicated to case studies, design and engineering of military technologies and small arms for Israeli and foreign third parties.

Back in the day, Porat contributed to the development ofthe "Tavor" rifle from the original sketches and prototypes of IMI engineer Gabi Komiser; it's mostly Porat's work that made the "Tavor" rifle platform what it is now, and as a matter of fact the Versia Military Design studio is still working on prospective future variants of the famous Israeli bull-pup rifle.

Just like the earlier CC3, the ReCover Tactical BC2 kit is manufactured in Israel, and consists of two injection-molded high-strenght polymer halves available in black, olive drab green and desert tan colors.

The overall weight of the system stands at mere 65 grams; the system has been modeled to perfectly fit some typical features of the Beretta 92 pistol design, including the slide catch/slide stop/hold-open release lever, and the takedown lever. It is also ambidextrous-ready, with magazine release button slots on both sides.

The overall grip design is ergonomic and as slip-proof as it can be; the trigger guard is slightly curved, in a "Combat" fashion − which seems to have lost momentum in the past years, but which, at the same time, provides plenty of room for the activation switch of any modern tactical accessory such as a tactical laser, a gunlight or a combo of both, or even a gun-mounted camera.

The installation of the ReCover Tactical BC2 kit on your Beretta pistol is extremely simple, and all it takes is a screwdriver to remove the screws that keep the factory grip panels in place; once they're gone, the same screws can be used to fasten the BC2 on the pistol grip. Subsequently, a small Allen key (issued with the kit) is used to fasten two issued screws and nuts in their respective seat − in front of the trigger guard and slightly over the rail − so to secure the ReCover Tactical BC2 in place.

ReCover Tactical BC2
The ReCover Tactical BC2 will upgrade your Beretta 92-type pistol to modern tactical versatility canons: no need to purchase a brand new railed pistol!

The entire installation procedure takes around three minutes and the result is a modernized gun, with a better feel on the hand, and equipped with a MIL-STD-1913 "Picatinny" rail, thus compatible with any commercial or military tactical accessory. You won't need a new gun to fit a flashlight or tactical laser if your old Beretta is still working just fine!

The ReCover Tactical BC2 kit will fit the Beretta 92, 96 and 98 pistols in their SB, F, H, D and DS versions, plus the US Military issued M9 and the semi-compact "Brigadier" and "Centurion" variants. It has not yet been tested on the South African Vektor Z88 or with the Turkish-made GIRSAN "Regard" clones (a.k.a. ATI AT-92 in the United States), but being them mostly equivalent to the original Berettas, it should reasonably fit. Compatibility with the Pakistani POF PK-9 and/or the Taiwanese T-75 should also be investigated, due to the non-conventional trigger guard design of these two Beretta clones.

On the other hand, the ReCover Tactical BC2 kit is not compatible with the Taurus PT-92 line and variants thereof, as it doesn't come with the necessary rear slots for their frame-mounted safety and decocking levers. For the same reason, it is not compatible with the Beretta 92, 96 and 98 pistols in their "Combat" variants. It is also not compatible with the Egyptian Helwan 920, which features a grip tang-mounted magazine release catch.

US-based gun enthusiasts and shooters can book their ReCover Tactical BC2 on the Company website right now; shipments are due in November, and the manufacturer's suggested retail price − minus shipment, which is free of charge within the continental United States and is charged 10$ for Alaska, Hawaii and Canada − is set at $49.99, that being around 39,18€ at current charge.

Bad news are for international shooters: the company doesn't ship internationally, and all demands concerning availability outside of the United States should be addressed directly to ReCover Tactical.

As far as it concerns European shooters, however, latest news are that an Italian company − Mateba Italia S.r.l. − will soon be carrying both the BC2 and the earlier CC3 kits on their On-Line Shop; the BC2 will be sold at 50€, while the CC3 kit for 1911 pistol variants will go at 49€. The company will ship to Italy, Germany, France and Spain.

That's good to hear: all4shooters.com has been overwhelmed with questions concerning the availability of the earlier CC3 in the past months, and we are quite confident that the demand for the ReCover Tactical BC2 variant will be even higher, particularly in those areas (think Europe) where the Beretta 92 pistol system is more popular than the 1911 between civilian gun owners, private security guards, law enforcement officers and military operators.
